SOUTHWEST HIGH SCHOOL REMEMBERS
Each May, Michael Sandoval and Heather Anderson bring their Southwest High School students to the Holocaust Memorial Museum for a week of learning, listening, and remembrance. Through assigned readings, museum tours, and discussions with survivors, the students are inspired to preserve the memory of those lost to Hitler's hate, and to improve the communities in which they themselves live.
The works below show that inspiration. Presented to the Holocaust Memorial Museum in early June, they represent ESL through Pre-AP World Geography classes. The Student artists identified and researched individual Holocaust stories and then combined an artistic representation with an original poem. The Museum looks forward to the continuance of the moving tradition."
