HMMSA Reads: Meet the Author

  • Holocaust Memorial Museum of San Antonio 12500 Northwest Military Highway San Antonio, TX, 78231 United States (map)

Join author Ruth Stitt as she shares her latest novel, When the World was Broken.

Based on a true family story from the Holocaust, her third self-published book is based on letters between her American grandmother and her three Jewish cousins in Berlin. The correspondence continued from 1938 to 1942, chronicling the cousins' desperation to escape Nazi Germany and her grandmother's diligent, frustrating efforts to rescue them.

In a time of rising antisemitism, Ruth believes this book is a timely contribution to Holocaust literature, and hopes it will open many conversations about standing against this type of evil and hatred in our time.
